Get excited, fight fans, because Conor McGregor is once again ready to go to battle for UFC gold as he vies for the UFC Intercontinental Title. The bout, announced today by UFC president Dana White, will take place at a to-be-determined event this summer against an as yet unnamed opponent.
“I am excited to announce the creation of the UFC Intercontinental Title,” White said at the press conference announcing the future bout. “While we don’t yet know who Conor will be facing for this prestigious belt, we have full faith that he will find a way to do more of his schtick that you goofs can’t get enough of.”
White pushed back on reporters who asked whether this was just an excuse to get McGregor into a title fight which his recent record, featuring just one win since 2016, can’t otherwise justify. White called the reporter a dummy who hated the sport, before insisting that McGregor would have an opponent befitting a UFC title fight, and that the UFC was already scouting all of the top amateur MMA promotions to find the right flyweight to face McGregor for the belt.
