Mixed martial arts fan Jerry Campbell admitted Wednesday that he really only follows the sport for the opportunity to view gory post-fight Instagram posts on his feed. Campbell, who follows every fighter in each of the major sports organizations, as well as many secondary and tertiary characters in the sport in hopes they will post photos of the aftermath of brutal fights to his feed, scrolls every new post on the app from Sunday through Tuesday each week.
“I found that when people see your social media feed and it’s an endless stream of bloody images and viscera, they tend to look at you funny,” Campbell said. “But, once I started following MMA, I realized I could count on the fighters I follow to provide me with a never-ending torrent of bloody gashes and broken bones, with anyone who happens to look over my shoulder none the wiser. It’s totally socially acceptable and normal in this community!”
Campbell also expressed his excitement about some impending “real good ones” following a fight which saw the winner open a four-inch gash on the forehead of their opponent with a particularly vicious and well-placed elbow. “That one’s going to be real nice.”
