Democratic Leadership Responds to Potential Title Right Stripping

A scathing rebuke of impropriety.

With ongoing discussions of the potential interest in an interim title fight despite UFC Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza presenting a fairly reasonable timetable for her first defense, senior Democratic officials throughout the House, Senate and White House are said to be blindsided by this unforeseen attack on the agency of a UFC champion. Speaking at a joint press conference at the Capitol, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D – NY) said that UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer had “like, totally called her the undisputed champion, and earlier in the night they promised us they weren’t gonna tell any lies! Like, not even one all night, so we HAD to believe them. And now they were lying?”

Asked what their plans were to deal with the issue at the heart of their anger, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D – CA12) said they were currently hard at work on a very sternly worded statement and have plans for a new bill that would make a promoter use nicer words when discussing the bypassed champion, which is expected to fall short of receiving a vote from US Super President Joe Manchin (D – WV) who supports the bill after having been misled before, but does not support doing so with a simple majority vote. Finally, Pelosi noted, the most important thing for them to do as a party was “vote, vote, vote!”
