Former UFC Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn courted controversy online last night in a now-deleted Instagram story in which Penn disputed the results of his UFC 118 bout against then-Champion Frankie Edgar. Although many media outlets called the bout for Edgar after in-ring announcer Bruce Buffer announced scorecards of 50-45 for all three judges, 12 years later, Penn is making it clear he still believes the fight is too close to call. Sources close to Penn confirm the former champion feels there were some irregularities with regard to scoring and does not believe Edgar could have come out on top without thousands of fraudulent punches being counted. Team Penn remains confident that, when the dust settles, he will be acknowledged as the rightful winner and champion of the lightweight division.
