The Seattle Seahawks today announced the appointment of NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus as their new general manager, a move the NFL Players Association greeted with open arms for the many positive things this will surely mean for players. The players feel that this provides a unique opportunity, and that there is no reason to worry about giving a man with control over the professional negotiations of several dozen players a vested interest in an organization that benefits from maximizing control over, and minimizing pay to, its players. The NFLPA has encouraged players to seek out opportunities with the Seahawks, and to not even bother reading their contracts before signing because, “that’s what an agent is for,” and they can surely count on Rosenhaus to negotiate in their best interest.
