Poirier, Gaethje Debate Whether Stupid Title They’re Fighting for is Stupid

While all-action lightweights Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje share a lot in common, from their fan-friendly styles to nearly their first names, one thing they can’t agree on is whether the very dumb BMF Title they are fighting for is stupid or not. Gaethje earlier shared his belief that the incredibly-embarrassing title recently vacated by the retirement of Jorge Masvidal, who lost every fight following his BMF victory, is pretty laughable, even if it will be nice should it turn out to come with some unconfirmed pay-per-view point bonuses. Poirier rebuked those claims, with the former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion going so far as to share his excitement for the under-designed belt, created and utilized as a way to put a title on the line for pay-per-view cards lacking an actual champion, to hang in his living room, perhaps to make his former title seem legitimate by comparison.
