Lightweight Alexander Shabliy put on an impressive performance at Bellator 301 taking on Patricky Pitbull, outstriking his opponent for the duration of the 25-minute affair which served as a semi-final bout for a grand prix hosted by the organization as part of its final event. Pitbull, a former champion of the former promotion, had few answers for Shabliy, with spectators agreeing it was an impressive showing from the Russian that would truly make him a player to be reckoned with in the division were it still one that existed. The victory has added intrigue due to the uncertainty of who Shabliy would have faced in the final were it a thing that was happening due to the recent suspension of fellow semi-final victor and Bellator Lightweight Maybe-Still-Champion Usman Nurmagomedov. One thing’s for certain, fans would truly be in for a treat if only Shabliy had an opponent to face and an organization in which to do so.
