Amateur featherweight Josh Taylor was once again left to curse his luck after coming out on the wrong side of a fight against an opponent he would beat nearly 100% of the time after his opponent, Danny Garcia, secured a D’arce choke at 37 seconds of the opening round. The defeat for Taylor, who was overwhelmingly superior to every opponent he has been matched against in his career, dropped his record to 0-7.

“I have to give credit to Danny,” Taylor sad after the bout, “he was the better man tonight. It’s frustrating, because everyone knows that’s a match-up I win nearly every time, but tonight just wasn’t my night.”

The loss is expected to do little to dampen the prospects of Taylor, considered by many to be the best featherweight fighter on the planet. His next bout is expected to be a battle for the Extreme Caged Violence Fighting Championship Amateur Featherweight Title against current holder Michael Boyd (9-1 Amateur, 3-0 ECVFC) in a matchup in which Taylor is heavily favored.
